4 Things to Do If You’re Visiting Idaho This Summer

Idaho is a spectacular state to visit. Just ask anyone who lives here! There’s something to do around every corner, from the mountains to the rivers. If you’re here for a week, you can spend one part of that week rafting Hells Canyon Idaho, and the other part exploring any of the nearby mountain towns. If you’re visiting Idaho this summer, here are a few things you must do!

Enjoy a Relaxing Float Down the Boise River

A lot of visitors to the state may find themselves in Boise, especially if they’re flying in or driving by on Interstate 84. If you’re in Boise, summer is float season on the Boise River. The great thing is you don’t have to go far! Most people float between Barber Park and Ann Morison Park. Floating the Boise River is leisurely and lasts a couple of hours.

Go Whitewater Rafting Through Hells Canyon

For a more thrilling river experience, it’s time to head to the Snake River. There are several stretches of the Snake River you can raft down, but if you’re visiting the state, rafting through Hells Canyon can be the way to do it. You can book three- or four-day trips that allow you to get the full Snake River rafting Idaho experience. You’ll go through class II, III, and IV rapids, plus you’ll hike, camp, and more.

Visit Perrine Bridge and Have a Picnic at Shoshone Falls

Towards southern Idaho, and just off I-84, you’ll find the Perrine Bridge spanning the Snake River Canyon leading into Twin Falls. The most adventurous can even BASE jump from the bridge. Or you can just get in a photo op. Not far from the bridge, east of Twin Falls, you’ll find Shoshone Falls. Shoshone Falls Park is a great place to spend an afternoon with a picnic. For even more fun at the falls, you can paddleboard on the Snake River at the base of the falls.

Hike Up to an Alpine Lake in the Sawtooths

In central Idaho, between Stanley and Sun Valley, are the Sawtooths. This impressive mountain range is a great place to camp and hike. There are several trails that lead up higher into the mountains that take you to the many alpine lakes that dot the range. After a long hike, you can jump into one of these sapphire blue lakes and go for a rejuvenating swim!
